Rosters are the best option to create both student and teacher accounts when organizations have up-to-date records of all the students’ emails and the students can receive emails at those addresses. This process works to create tens or hundreds or thousands of accounts at one time.  Organizations prepare Excel files for teachers and for students in the following formats: 

 

Teacher Account Creation - Prepare an Excel file with 3 columns (in this order, if possible):

  • Last name
  • First name
  • Email

 

Student Account Creation - Prepare an Excel file with 8 columns (in this order, if possible):

  • Student ID (If practice test data from Illuminate is going to be uploaded, then this Student ID data must be the students' Illuminate IDs)
  • Last name
  • First name
  • Middle name (ok to be blank if N/A)
  • Date of birth (MM/DD/YYYY)
  • Gender 
  • Graduation year
  • Email address (this must be an email that the students can check)

 

After these files are uploaded by Winward Academy, the teachers and/or students receive an email that their Winward Academy accounts have been created. The subject name of this email is “Winward Academy Email Verification.” If they don’t see this email in their inbox, students should check their junk or spam folders. When they locate the email, they verify their account by clicking either the VERIFY EMAIL ADDRESS button or the link. Also, if a student accidentally deletes this email, see Step 3 – Help students verify their accounts for instructions on how to trigger a resending of the verification email.

After clicking the button or the link, a screen loads on which the user, student or teacher, chooses a profile color and sets a password.

Students and teachers can login anytime using their email and the password they set.
